Great news from MAMI! Josh, the only Pakistani film to be screened at the highly prestigious 14th Mumbai Film Festival in 2012 is the brainchild of Iram Parveen Bilal. Iram, Whilst she has been noted in international film festivals for her short films.This is Iram's debut feature film, which she spent 4 years
four years from concept to script to fundraising to getting a team and then shooting the film and editing it. JOSH is screening at MAMI next weekend.

The brief synopsis of Josh goes as follows: Fatima, a committed schoolteacher living the cosmopolitan high life in Karachi, is devastated when her nanny, Nusrat, inexplicably disappears. Though her friends and family beg her not to disturb the status quo and confront the powerful feudals in Nusrat’s village, Fatima travels there to investigate. Will the trials and tribulations deter Fatima's resolve?
Will the quest challenge an already complicated romantic relationship?
What all shall Fatima have to sacrifice in the search for answers?

Josh (English Title: Against the Grain) is the story of a privileged woman whose life is shattered in a single moment. It is the story of a woman in search for a dangerous truth. It is the story of the biggest challenge to Pakistan's still reigning feudalism: the country's youth.
The film explores the internal debates the young are struggling with, and how solutions can be attainable if and when they stand united.

The cast of the film includes renowned stars such as Aamina Sheikh,
Mohib Mirza, Adnan Shah Tipu, Khalid Ahmad, Khalid Malik, Navin Waqar, Salim Mairaj, Parveen Akbar and Kaiser Khan Nizamani.

Parveen Akber stars as the imminent hero of Khuda Ki Basti, in a character that's her namesake, "Parveen" in JOSH.

The supremely talented, veteran actor, Salim Mairaj stars as the honest yet nervous teacher, "Master Khalid" in JOSH.

Kaiser Khan Nizamani stars as the dada of the City of God/Khuda Ki Basti, "Khan" in JOSH.
